In September 2017 Claire Pianta, Founder of Common Earth Studio, saw a need to create a platform for newly qualified yoga teachers to hone their skills and offer the gift of yoga to the greater community. With an understanding that yoga isn’t always accessible to the people that need it most Claire started firing her neurons to find a way for more people in the Guildford area of Western Australia to be able to access the benefits of yoga. Co-Flow, Community Yoga for a Cause Project was born. Inspired by her teacher Shiva Rea to embark on a journey of being a mindful yogi warrior by standing strong, speaking true and taking action for all that that she believes in; Claire reached out to Sea Shepherd Australia to invite them to collaborate on the first 2 months of the project.
So how does it work?
Claire invites Perth's newest up-and-coming teacher talent to offer a month of Tuesday afternoon 5:30-6:45pm classes at Guildford Town Hall. Other freshly graduated teachers support the process by giving that extra level of personal attention to students with hands-on-adjustments. In return for their effort the star teacher of the month receives some much appreciated experience and feedback. The students walk away feeling supported and satisfied with their introduction to the world of yoga knowing that part of their $10 entry fee went to a great cause. All profit beyond covering minimal expenses goes to the feature charity or not-for-profit organisation of the month. BOOM! Everybody wins.
More details about Co-Flow can be found on the Common Earth Studio events page at www.commonearthstudio.com/events
If you manage a charity or not-for-profit organisation that would like to partner with Co-Flow please email email@example.com to be further enrolled in the project.
And that’s how we spread the magic of yoga for all to enjoy!
